Costume is an important element of mise en scene that can show what the traits of a character are. With the proper costume, you will be able to tell whether or not a character is comedic of intimidating. You will be able to tell whether they are the protagonist or antagonist. Even the smallest details in a costume can help you identify the what the character is supposed to be. For example, you can tell someone is supposed to be a vampire if the character has sharp fangs in its mouth.
The person responsible for making the wardrobes are called costume designers. They are also assisted with producers because they provide the supplies for the costume. The director is also assists because he has to make sure the characters' personality fits the costume. The cinematographer somewhat assists with this as well, except they try to make the camera angles resonate with the character based on the costume.
