Preliminary Exercise: Storyboard Worksheet #2 Camera Framing

Camera framing is based on how subjects and objects are positioned in shots. There are two types of framing which are, loose and tight. Loose framing is when there is a lot of space in a scene. Tight framing is when there is little space in a space. One of the shots associated with camera framing is single shot. A single shot is when one subject is captured in a frame. A two-shot scene is the same, except there is two subjects in the frame rather than one. A three-shot scene is a medium shot that involves three subjects in a frame. A four-shot scene is a shot with four characters in a frame. A crowd shot is a shot of a group of people in a scene. A point-of-view shot shows what and who the character is looking at. An over-the-the-shoulder shot behind an actor to show the actor in front of them. An insert shot is a close-up or extreme close-up that focuses a viewers' attention to a specific subject.

On the assignment, me and my team were trying to identify camera framing and its properties. During this time, we were still trying to get a better understanding of camera framing. Therefore, the assignment was not done correctly. However, after doing this assignment we learned from our mistakes, and we now know what camera framing is.

Research: Lighting

Who doesn't like a film with a lot of lighting? When the light is shined on a specific character of object your attention is attracted to it. That isn't a bad thing. In fact, that means that the person in charge of directing the film's lighting is doing his job well. The goal of using the mise en scene element known as, lighting is to emphasize the importance the object of character. Without lighting, it would be difficult to figure out why and object as simple as a strand of hair is so important.   Proper lighting can also set the main character atmosphere in a film. When the lighting reflects of a character's face in the right angle, it gives them that feeling of relevancy within the film. It shows the character's dominance within the film. At the same time, it can demonstrate how lonely the character is too as well. It can show how lonesome the character is.

Camera Angles Slide PowerPoint Presentation

The last time that I did a post on camera angles, it was on a storyboard. Me and my team had to draw pictures of different camera angles. What makes this post different is that this time we had to take pictures and put them on a slide presentation. Me and my team had fun taking pictures and utilizing them in the most creative way possible. Moreover, in the process, we learned more about camera angles and their significance to film and photography, in general.   The slide above was about a low-level shot. We talked about the meaning and significance of a low-level shot. By the way, the person we used in the picture tried his hardest to not break character. The shot had to be retaken at least three to four times. Moreover, we used a story about a student bumping into a taller student as a way of making the shot make sense.   Moreover, in the slide above, we did an eye-level shot. In this slide, we talked about the meaning and significance of an eye-level shot. Moreo...
